If your drivers license has been revoked and you are trying to obtain or reinstate driving privileges, you must complete  IL Secretary of State's requirements.   We are committed to helping you understand and obtain everything needed to achieve a successful outcome.

IL SECRETARY OF STATE ADMINISTRATIVE HEARINGS

The IL Secretary of State Department of Administrative Hearings conducts hearings for drivers seeking reinstatement of driving privileges that have been suspended or revoked due to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol /other drugs as well as other offenses that impact your driving privileges.

If your license was suspended, you temporarily lose your driving privileges for a designated period of time or until you meet certain reinstatement requirements.

If your license was  revoked, your driving privileges are taken away indefinitely and you are required to have a hearing to apply for driving relief.

There are two types of hearings:  Informal and Formal.

  1. An informal hearing is required for a driver whose driving privileges have been suspended or revoked for an offense not involving a fatality or for a single DUI disposition. Held on a walk-in basis and typically allowed if you have one DUI arrest that resulted in or was reported as a conviction.
  2. A formal hearing must be requested in writing, and is required for a driver whose privileges have been suspended or revoked for: an offense(s) involving a fatality / great bodily harm or multiple DUI dispositions.
