If you are arrested for DUI in IL, it is required that you complete 10 hours of Risk Education classes. These classes provide the offender with information and facts about drugs and alcohol, the physical, mental and social effects and on the legal process and consequences of a DUI.
The purpose of DUI risk education is to provide the offender with information and facts about alcohol and other drugs, the physical, mental and social effects and on the legal process and consequences of a DUI.
Our course is approved and meets all the necessary requirements established by Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
We use materials and curriculum from: The IL DUI Risk Education with Interactive Journal.
Risk education classes will be a minimum of 10 hours of classroom instruction, divided into at least four sessions held on different days.
No session will exceed three hours in length.
You must provide a copy of your completed Alcohol and Drug Evaluation Uniform Report indicating that risk education has been recommended.
Class size will be no larger than 24 participants.
Impaired driving is a primary focus of this course. However, because driving after drinking and/or using other drugs is only one of many risk-taking behaviors that may accompany substance use, the course also explores a broader spectrum of risks associated with substance use.
COURSE OBJECTIVES INCLUDE:
A licensed drug and alcohol counselor will be facilitating the classes and will treat you with respect & dignity, provide a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere and protect your confidentiality.
When you arrive for your first class, a pre-test will be given to assess your knowledge of the course objectives and you will be given a booklet to use throughout the course.
After the final class is completed, you will take the post test to assess any increase in knowledge regarding the course objectives.
To successfully complete risk education, you must attend each class in its entirety and achieve a minimum score on the post-test of 75%.
DUI Risk Education Certificate of Completion will be issued when you successfully complete the above.
